About Friends School

Welcome to Friends School!

Founded in 1980, Friends School is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, family cooperative preschool and kindergarten whose mission is to provide experiential, child-centered educational opportunities for children of all abilities. Our programs serve children twelve months through seven and celebrate the uniqueness of each child.

Classes are taught by dedicated, experienced, credentialed teachers. With one teacher and assistant per class, the maximum preschool ratio is 1:6 and 1:8 in kindergarten. Parents assisting in the classroom further decrease the child to adult ratio.

We are also 3-STAR program and fully licensed by the State of Kentucky. Our philosophy of mainstreaming children with special needs has brought national recognition by Exceptional Parent magazine. We also serve as a resource for local colleges and universities in the training of new teachers.
