Friends School Policies and Forms

Wellness Policy

Friends School is dedicated to making the school environment a fun, healthy, safe place to be, in which to learn and play with others. In order to do this, we ask your cooperation in helping us all keep healthy.

Please send your child to school only when she or he is well and able to play outdoors and to participate fully in all activities. A child should not be brought to school if vomiting, diarrhea or a fever has occurred in the past 24 hours. If your child is experiencing a sore throat, unidentified rash, heavy nasal discharge or a constant cough, we also ask that you keep her or him home.

Please consult the Contagious Disease Chart to find out more about symptoms that indicate that your child should stay home and that a trip to the doctor's may be warranted.

Cancellation Policy

Friends School, like all tuition-based schools, projects its budget according to the contracts it receives at registration time. Like these schools, Friends has cancellation policies in place to protect the school, its staff, and its families. Please read your contract carefully. By signing it, you are agreeing to pay the annual tuition in full, even if your child withdraws. The deposit you pay to secure your child's slot at registration time is non-refundable. For more information about our cancellation policy and tuition payments, please contact the business manager.

Weather Delays and Closures

Friends School follows the same policies as the Jefferson County Public Schools. If there is a weather event, tune to WHAS or WAVE for school closing and delay information. You need to listen for JCPS information; Friends will not be mentioned separately.

If you are unsure about a possible closing or delay, check the voice message left on the school's voice mail at 899-1822. A message concerning closing or delay will be on the voice mail no later than 7am.

Briefly, if JCPS is closed we will be closed. If elementary schools are on a one hour delay, our preschool and kindergarten will also be on a one-hour delay with dismissal at normal time. There will be no before school care on days when there is a delay. If there is a two-hour delay, school will be closed for that day.

If JCPS has early dismissal, all afternoon sessions (preschool, kindergarten and aftercare) will be cancelled.
