Our Programs

Preschool (2-4 years)

Friends School's child-centered, developmental approach incorporates both the interests of the child as well as activities that are appropriate for the child's age. Hands-on experiences support a curriculum structured around such interesting themes as dinosaurs, space or the human body. Teachers integrate stories, songs, games and projects relevant to the theme. As they are ready, children are encouraged in the recognition of basic shapes, colors, letters, and numbers. Informal celebrations of holidays and the changing of the seasons are additional opportunities for children to understand the world around them. Weekly enrichment programs in music and creative movement are taught by an experienced teacher. Large motor skills are developed through daily supervised playtimes in an indoor playroom in inclement weather and, on nice days, in a fenced, outdoor play area. Our low student/teacher ratio allows our teachers to get to know each child and develop individualized goals and activities to help each child succeed.
